Like it's parent club night, Need2Soul Music will be all about quality house music, all night long. First up on the release schedule then, it's fitting that we have a collaboration between the clubs resident, Quentin Harris, and a long time guest and friend of Need2Soul, the house music legend that is, Ron Trent.
A native of Detroit, Quentin Harris is a musical magician. By the age of five he had taught himself piano. Barely into long trousers he'd taken on drums, sax and trumpet too. As a teenager though his first love was Hip Hop. A contemporary of local boys, Slum Village, Eminem and D12, Quentin was quickly signed to BMG as an independent producer, drum programmer and DJ.

Quentin's partner in this first Need2Soul Music project needs little introduction. Ron Trent is a house music legend. With releases on Wave, Peacefrog, Giant Step, Guidance, King St, Nite Grooves and Prescription Ron's esoteric brand of deep house music has been enthralling critics, and clubbers since his debut release in 1990. His 2002 album project, 'African Blues', blended jazz, african, latin and world grooves - without ever losing sight of the beguiling power of bass! Simply put, Ron Trent is one of the most creative producers house music has seen.

'Happiness' is Ron and Quentin's first collaboration. A classic slice of instrumental sun-soaked, deep house music 'Happiness' runs to a rocksteady, dancefloor friendly, 120 bpm beat. Happiness is a deep dark machine led groove lifted way up high by some George Benson style guitar. 'Happiness' is topped off (and guaranteed) by a bubbling bass heavy production courtesy of Mr Trent,.
The flip features a sublime vocal re-interpretation. Featuring the magical vocals of Cordell McClary this takes Happiness as the theme, delivering a hymn to meeting that special one, out there, on the dancefloor.
An end of night favourite at Need2Soul's own parties for months now, 'Happiness' will be beaming outta speaker stack near you soon. This is the classic sound of house, The sound that was key to all those early Chi-town classics. The magical combinaton of machine funk, live grooves and deep soul that only real house music can deliver
