The Apples are a hip hop / funk band from Israel with elements of jungle and drum'n'bass and the occasional touch of Klezmer. The impressive horn section (trumpet, trombone and two saxophones), drums, bass, two DJs on turntables and samples make the CD an intelligent and highly creative party. Most of the cuts here are built on the jazz principle: a central component around which the creation builds, ventures from and eventually returns to. Beat and melody are the building blocks, one never eclipses the other, but neither do they yield to each other. The turntables and scratches are every bit a musical instrument as the saxophones. The CD's front cover features the disclaimer "Consumption may cause uncontrollable body movements". Never a truer word spoken!
