Hakken Dub / Throat Dub

Central to the up-and-coming Danse Noire label (Vaghe Stelle, El Mahdy Jr.) ,founding the label with several co-conspirators, Devi's latest project under her own name (shedding the Kate Wax moniker) finds it's roots in her dedication to deep meditation and using her machines to heighten the transcendence.

The heavy "Hakken Dub" signals a departure from Devi's (relatively) more pop-oriented 'Aura 4 Everyone' - clocking in at rapid-fire 160 BPM it's a gabber tribute anthem retooled into something ethereally new yet club-friendly. "Throat Dub" (Tool) features the guttural vocals of Devi processed and layered into 9+ minutes of incredibly provocative drones functioning equally well for meditations as it would as a DJ tool. In line with the label's mission to release the most radical deviations of the artists they release, Aisha Devi's "Hakken Dub/Throat Dub" 12" certainly fits the bill. This is music that pushes at boundaries and asks questions about how intense and broad the club experience can be. The release is topped off with a slinking techno take of "Hakken Dub" by IVVVO (Public Information, Opal Tapes) and an insane sidewinding take on "Throat Dub" from Hieroglyphic Being that is almost completely sourced from Devi's vocals.
