Part One EP

A 3 track free jazz ep (19m 3s) — released September 29th 2014 on Keep Up!

Keep Up! is excited to announce a new EP from a brand new group straight outta OZ: Sydney's Zigsbig. The label heard about their music via an almost completely anonymous Bandcamp upload of a track simply entitled Part One. The label got in touch to see if the group would be interested in issuing the nine minute minute long modern electronic jazz track accompanied with some remixes. This is the result.

Zigsbig is an instrumental band from Sydney, Australia. Taking influence from artists on Brainfeeder, Ninja Tune and Warp, as well as bands closer to home such as Hiatus Kaiyote and the Venusians, they aim to drop heavily-improvised bliss bombs. The group is composed of Zeke Ruckman (30/70, Melbourne), George Sheridan (The Liberators, Record Kicks), Vernon Zamora (The Liberators, Record Kicks), Joel Jenkins (JJ3) and Ken Allars (The Liberators, Mike Nock Trio).

Title track Part One is a free-flowing, multi-movement, tempo-shifting electronic jazz composition which is certainly experimental but remains consistently mellow. Accompanying this are remixes of the original from Swamimillion (AKA Keysound Recordings' LV) and Bristol-based beat maker Ded Tebiase. Swamimillion fed the stems to the original into their MPCs, re-programmed, re-playing and re-imagined Part One into another improvised piece of electronic music leaning casually towards Hip Hop. Ded Tebiase's interpretation moves even closer creating a new groove from one slice of the original track and adding a neck-snapping beat.

The three track Part One EP is released digitally via Kudos Records Distribution on Monday 29 September 2014.
