Praxis

A 16 track leftfield/idm album (48m 46s) — released January 13th 2014 on Psychonavigation

Steve Stoll is an American Techno/Electronic music artist from New York city. He is the owner of the underground label Proper N.Y.C. which he founded in 1994. Over the years steve has colloborated with the likes of Patrick Codneys (Front 242), Pete Namlook, Ken Ishii, and Damon Wild, to name a few. He has remixed everyone from Hardfloor to Gary Numan, and continues his techno exploration to this day by finding inspiration in the originators of electronic sound, firmly rooted in modular analog synthesis, his own one-off circuit designs, and strict philosopy of mixing tracks live without overdubs.

In 1993 Steve released the classic 'Hemisphere' album (a collaboration with the late Pete Namlook) which appeared on the legendary record label Fax +49-69/450464. The track Praxis XIII will appear on the Die Welt ist Klang compilation (A tribute to Pete Namlook)

'Praxis' is dedicated to the work of Daphne Oram, Delia Derbyshire, and Laurie Spiegel.

Praxis I - XVI

If you enjoy experimental electronic music from the very old school (and I do) I'd imagine you're going to really like this one. - Christian Wheeldon http://nmlkfax.blogspot.co.uk/

Using Blair Witch scares, keeping danger in the corners, veteran New York techno stalker Stoll coaxes a largely freeform, 49-minute monument of space-shuttled silent screams. 8/10 - Matt Oliver Clash Magazine

Considering the current popularity of modular electronics with labels like Modern Love and Ghost Box, Stoll’s reverential work has arrived right on time. BBC Workshop heads should enjoy the claustrophobic ambience of opener ‘Praxis I’ and the off-kilter lope of ‘Praxis XV’. - Warp Records Bleep.com

Steve Stoll explores textures long since forgotten. However the last three minutes verge on a level of beauty that Boards of Canada virtually perfected. - http://beachsloth.blogspot.ie/ Beachslot Blog
