Former Fila Brazillia member Steve Cobby and Pork, label boss of lamented Pork Recordings, have joined up to form The Cutler.

The Best Things In Life Aren't Things is the new (July 2012) release from the Cutler, and features two guest vocalists - Russell Morgan (Revolution) and Andrew Taylor (Pyramid Of Power).

"It's a really beautiful record that fuses a whole range of different sounds into a mellow quasi-electronic journey through hip IDM, raw funk, brooding electronica and ...

"I can't tell you much about The Cutler beyond what you can read on their website yourself, other than that their latest, The Best Things in Life Aren't Things, is a stone cold groove, baby. Jazzy/funky instruments, cymbal-ic percussion and Charlie Brown sounding vocal samples? Yes, please."
Megan Terrible, Les Enfants Terribles
"Lord C, Ruler of the grey notes and beyond... Never on the beaten track, always looking for new ways to put the left in front of the right... With amazement I've listened to those records now and heard the joy of creation. Thanks, that felt gooood."
Peter Kruder, Kruder & Dorfmeister
"This is exactly what you'd expect knowing the steez of the folks involved... eclectic, funky, deep, atmospheric goodness of the first order. This shit will give you an ear-boner, I'm tellin' ya. The forthcoming The Best Things In Life Aren't Things on the excellently named Steel Tiger label, from The Cutler... BUY THE DAMN ALBUM WHEN IT COMES OUT! Cheers..."
Tonegents
"Former Fila Brazillia member Steve Cobby and Pork, label boss of lamented Pork Recordings, have joined up to form The Cutler…the track '200 Pharaohs : 6 Billion Slaves' is a hard-living, whiskey-drinking, rawk anthem, filled with Egyptian rhythms. Not really…it “rails against the state of the capitalist system and the grotesque failure of bankers”. Fair enough in days like these. Less laid back than Fila Brazillia’s smoke-filled tunes. A gentle tune but shot through with anxious, sharp-edged guitar. It has that – dreaded word – cinematic sixties feel. A welcome return."
Acid Ted
"New tunes of the electronic persuasion courtesy of British duo The Cutler. And because The Cutler are good geezers, they are now yours for the downloading. Namely, the lush 'That's What I Feel Inside', and 'Pyramid of Power', a haunting mix of hip hop tempo drums and distorted vocal samples. Quality business."
A Grumpy Old Man With A B
"The upcoming album from The Cutler is a shot at those responsible for the financial mess we’re in right meow (whoever that may be?). Either way it’s good stuff so keep your eyes and ears open….."
AK JIGGA
"The Cutler's new album 'The Best Things In Life Aren't Things' is a really beautiful record that fuses a whole range of different sounds into a mellow quasi-electronic journey through hip IDM, raw funk, brooding electronica and jazzy guitar grooves. With straight up laid-back disco instrumentals that works the ass off in the deep. These guys are a real breath of fresh air, highly recommend checking them out!"
Disco Delicious
"Let's flaunt convention… also by rooting out musical truffles from the sonic undergrowth and get on with the business of Steve Cobby's major contribution to downtempo funk in this country and leftfield dance music in general. He is one half of Fila Brazillia and one third of Heights of Abraham, which on their own should get him a knighthood."
DJ Magazine
"After playing around with ideas in private, their work slipped out + people took notice - these two are just too talented to keep silent."
Slackline Radio
"Face it, when the guy who masterminded Pork Recordings gets together with its most creative musician it's not going to be average. Put simply this is übercool music, if you loved Pork Recordings this is for you."
