Till Everyman Is Free

A 4 track house ep (30m 27s) — released December 9th 2013 on STEEL TIGER RECORDS

This grabs you and pulls you to the dance floor - lovely bright pace, attentive production. A street-light, moon-light, late-night mix - whether you're big-city or open-country people, 'Till Everyman Is Free' makes you feel stunning and think freedom.

Chieftain is Adam Regan and Steve Cobby - this release follows-up the success of their 2012 EP, 'The War Bonnet' and their 2013 steamy-summer-deep-heat-deep-house-disco-stunner 'Out Of My Life' [instrumental version available on 'Till Everyman is Free' EP"].

Legendary Sheffield DJ Parrot has turned in the Crooked Man Remix of 'Everyman' - he was first influential in the 90s scene, and in Sweet Exorcist with Richard H Kirk (Cabaret Voltaire) - Parrot also DJ'd at the seminal Jive Turkey Nightclub. On first scent of 'Everyman' he was immediately onboard with his remix!

DJs supporting Chieftain include: Cheets (Global Dance Session), Samy Morpheus, Sleazy McQueen, Ron Basejam (aka Jim Baron/Crazy P), Chris Todd (Crazy P/ Hot Toddy), Rob.J (Main Stem / Dropout Boogie), Martin Smith, Al Bradley (3am Recordings/i Records/Deadbeat Disco) and many more. Steel Tiger releases have featured on BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music: Rob da Bank, Don Letts, Lauren Laverne, Stuart Maconie and Nemone's Electric Ladyland - US and European airplay includes KCRW, KEXP, Soma FM and Radio One Prague.

"Coati Mundi is some synth-out craziness aint it! It's like Grandmaster Flash had a love child with Afrika Bambaattaa that then went on to design a synth, and Coati Mundi is the demo for the world music sound bank. And that isn't a diss I tell thee. Everyman takes me back to when I was young & beautiful and my only care in the world was if I could go out to some sweaty warehouse and dance the night away. A time when everybody was positive and we really thought that music was going to save the world. A time when labels were what your mom sewed into your socks and ecstasy tablets were as big as wagon wheels. Yes mate. They're both really lovely tracks!" - Jim Le Grin O'Reilly.

"Coati Mundi: Love the explosive, spacey intro with the cosmic drum fills. Feels in the same vein as GTFOOML, totally in the pocket, holding back, the track bursting with a stinking funk.Everyman: Fresh. Sparse. Feels dark. Hats all electric and fizzy. Leaning towards Burial in places but then drops unexpectedly in to a banger with the classic Chicago piano sound. On both you can feel the history, the pedigree, the classics; but you stay the right side of everything, keeping it fresh, keeping it new, keeping it!" - Steve Alcock. "Who'd have thought a Brummy and Hull pairing could bring so much soul and groove to the dancefloor. Their heritage in and around the UK music scene for decades is unmistakable though and shines through here. 10/10" - Rhys Adams / Yesking.

Adam Regan is a DJ (Different Drummer, Leftfoot), club owner (Hare & Hounds, Bull's Head), and producer (Chieftain). His clubs are a haven for fans of leftfield, soulful music, with guests like Kruder & Dorfmeister, Keb Darge, Jazzanova, Fabio, Gilles Peterson, Carl Craig and Fila Brazillia playing to crowds; and were voted "Best Clubnight" on Gilles Peterson's BBC Worldwide Radio Show. The list of artists join the dots between house, hip-hop, disco, jazz, funk, soul, reggae, drum&bass, techno, afrobeat & latin - Lee Scratch Perry, Roots Manuva, Dego (4-Hero), Ty, Mr Scruff, Jazzy Jeff, Rainer Truby, Daddy G (Massive Attack), Kenny Dope Gonzales, King Britt, Quantic Soul Orchestra and Norman Jay, have all featured with club-nights as far afield as Paris, San Francisco, Croatia, Liverpool, London and Nottingham.

Regan continues to push underground soul and quality music from around the globe, including his celebrated sets at Barbarella's and on the Beach Stage at the glorious Garden Festival in Croatia. Steve Cobby is a musician, composer, producer, and DJ - a co-founder (with Sim Lister) of Steel Tiger Records and member of the legendary Fila Brazillia, The Cutler, J*S*T*A*R*S, Hey, Rube! and The Heights of Abraham. His summer 2013 sets at the celebrated Garden Festival in Croatia saw the crowds dancing on the beaches and under the stars to an upbeat soundtrack, 'Out Of My Life' by Chieftain!

Cobby's fantastically eclectic selection of remix credits range from Radiohead and Lamb to Busta Rhymes and Black Uhuru - along with fellow Fila Brazillian David McSherry, their one & only tour of the USA was sold out from coast to coast. More recently, Steve has collaborated with Harold Budd on the White Rose EP; with the quintessential Pork of Pork Recordings as The Cutler; with ex Cabaret Voltaire frontman Stephen Mallinder as Hey, Rube!, and mixed-down The Little Glitches debut album - and he's put together a top-quality remix album for The Cutler 'Everyone is Remixing Everything Else' with top remixers including Richard Dorfmeister and Darren Emerson....and he's DJing again, including at The Garden Party in Croatia - and along with Pork, at The Hidden Hill Festival.

Steve is Music Director for the Hull 'UK City of Culture 2017' bid film, the winning City will be announced during November 2013.
