Labadi Warrior

A 3 track progressive/tribal house ep (11m 33s) — released February 24th 2014 on The People's Ear

Childhood friends, Gabriel Benn and Ollie Williams, formed The Busy Twist in 2010 when they went to Ghana to record local artists to fuse into their unique sound. The lads eyes are set to all places where the music us at the forefront of it's culture for example; South Africa, Angola, Brazil and Colombia. Now they start 2014 with a bang, a confrontational slice of cross culture splendour, Labadi Warrior.

Travelling back and forth to Accra over the last three years and working closely with local artists, The Busy Twist have created a first in music by producing a game changing track and featuring very local/traditional drumming and cultural musicians on it and fusing it with a London sound. It features the chants of a local drumming group - The Labadi Warriors, whose name was given to them by The Busy Twist as a reflection furious drum performances, had never entered a studio before recording the track.

The video was shot and organised by The Busy Twist and their good friend in Ghana, Malaika (who features on previous & forthcoming material). It was shot in a local park, by hiring a large sound system and putting posters up in the area to notify that there was going to be a big video shoot and performance from the Labadi Warriors. 'It was probably the most hectic and sweaty 4 days we have ever had', said The Busy Twist.

Drawn to good vibes, good people and good music and culture, they feel that there is no better way to share these experiences and feeling than through music. So blending influences of the UK bass/electronica scenes with African inspirations from all over the world to create Labadi Warrior, here they share it with you. The Busy Twist are a formidable emerging force to be reckoned with.
