'Cantaloop 2004' is the first single release by Us3 from the phenomenal new album 'questions'. The 12' is released on 30th August and features two brand new versions of the 1994 hit 'Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia)', along with two exclusive hip-hop remixes. The Soul Mix gives the track a contemporary urban flavour, with the original Herbie Hancock piano sample replaced by a warmer Fender Rhodes sound. The chorus boasts a new mellow horn riff, and Brooklyn rapper Reggi Wyns' verbal update is book-ended by the cool mute trumpet of Chris Storr. The El Barrio Mix is a faster samba version, driven by Ed Jones' breathy flute and a furious bed of percussion, underpinned throughout by a crunchy Farfisa organ sound reminiscent of that euphoric 1970s NY latino vibe. Arriba! Also featured on the 12' are two exclusive remixes, spinning an alternative hip-hop vibe. First up is Waajeed of the Bling47 group with the 'B47 Bid-de-Bop Refix', followed by J Rawls of the Lone Catalysts, who throws in a lovely mellow jazzy thumper. Production mogul Waajeed is the latest heavyweight in an eminent roll call of Detroit natives to blast onto the international hip-hop arena. One of the original members of Slum Village, he is one of the key players behind the trailblazing collective Bling47 and is currently working on the debut album for his Platinum Pied Pipers project, signed to San Francisco label Ubiquity (see www.bling47.com). J Rawls is the production genius behind acclaimed hip-hop outfit the Lone Catalysts. His debut album as a solo artist 'The Essence of J Rawls' (Groove Attack 2001) featured a wealth of emcee talent alongside his trademark slammin' beats and lush blissed-out jazz samples. 'Cantaloop 2004' is taken from the 4th Us3 album 'questions', which is released on 20th September. 'questions' is a contemporary slice of jazz-influenced urban sounds leaning heavily on a latino R&B vibe, and features two new vocalists, Brooklyn rapper Reggi Wyns, and London-based (South Africa-born) songstress Mpho Skeef. Us3 is the brainchild of London-based producer Geoff Wilkinson, who has experienced phenomenal success worldwide, initially catapulted by the original version of 'Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia)' and his multi-million selling debut album 'Hand on the Torch'. Subsequent albums 'Broadway & 52nd' and 'An Ordinary Day In An Unusual Place' expanded the Us3 sound further, culminating in the contemporary grooves of 'questions'.
