This Is What The Universe Sounds Like, Pt. 1 (Unmixed)

A 12 track leftfield/idm single (1h 42m 56s) — released May 18th 2009 on Universal Vibes

unmixed version of the universal vibes label compilation... Universal Vibes is proud to present its first label compilation, a retrospective looking back at their first year of digital and vinyl releases and also previewing a few new faces and forthcoming releases. Universal Vibes was set up as an internet radio station by Paddy Freeform in 2002 as a platform for some of the styles of music which he felt were under-represented, both on the internet and in the music industry in general. This has given the site its' freestyle music policy, taking in broken beats, dubstep, deep house, techno, hip hop, funk, soul, disco and all points between. A sound described by Paddy himself as Future Soul Music for the dance floor – a sound you can find in his DJ sets all over London (at his regular residencies) and at events such as Secret Garden, Bloom, Bestival, Snowbombing and the Lake Of Stars in Malawi. A sound broadcast weekly on SSRadio and in Paddy's podcast series. Since re-locating to London and the site has gone from strength to strength, Universal Vibes and has featured regular contributions from Freerange, Buzzin Fly, Fabric,Compost Records and has included guest appearances from many well known artists, including The Unabombers, Oris Jay, J Da Flex, Bugz In The Attic, Alex Attias, Ame, Mad Mats and many more. The logical progression of this was to start a label to release some of the music that was catching Paddy's attention as a DJ and radio broadcaster. Taking the same freestyle ethos as the site, the label music policy can only be described as eclectic and we've released everything from House and Balearic disco infused beats to downbeat leftfield material…basically if its deep and soulful and catches the ear, we'll release it! Universal Vibes have always been about breaking new talent and bringing new music to the fore, so most of the names on the album won't be immediately recognisible, however we firmly believe that giving the right exposure and releasing these artists music will soon change that. Just remember where you heard them first! Featuring on this up and coming album we showcase music from Surra, Andy Ash, Poussez, Jafar and Bobby Strobe, The Onas, Strange Worlds, Jaffasurfa and Young David. Label head honcho Paddy Freeform will be getting involved and producing a few exclusive re-edits and remixes under his Soulsonix production alias , as well as mixing the CD, whilst lining up his own productions for release later in the year. 'This Is What The Universe Sounds Like part 1' rounds up the deep dancefloor side of the label's output and will be released on CD (mixed) and digital (unmixed) 30 April 2009, with a couple of 12' samplers released in march - featuring some of the tracks which are exclusive to the album. Part 2 will feature the more downbeat, laid back sounds and will be released later in the year. The Album is also backed up with 2 super limited vinyl sampler releases containing some of the exclusive new material, these samplers have already picked up critical acclaim and DJ support from Josh Wink, Dubfire, Alex Attias, Nick Luscombe (XFM), Halo, Deepgroove, Yousef, Mr Scruff, Rob Da Bank and many more compilation of the month: dj mag-june issue label of the month: idj april issue 'one of the must check labels of modern times' -idj review-may issue
