Uplands

A 15 track electronic album (58m 31s) — released October 12th 2018 on Above 690

Acid Slag is an electronica project by composer and producer David Handford that encompasses minimal electro, acid house, dark ambiance and anarchy pop. Active since 2013, Acid Slag's style launches from where David's earlier pseudonyms as DJ Methodist and Ministry of Defiance left off, having garnered airplay from various djs on BBC Radio 1, Radio 3 and 6music as well as internationally. Whilst most tracks are mainly instrumental in tone, vocals are also employed, often well hidden but sometimes fully songlike. All music is created in David's Devon studio using derelict analogue electronics, ancient apple macs and various reed and string intruments.

Released through Above 690 on October 12th 2018, Uplands is the debut album from David Handford's electronica project Acid Slag. Recorded on Dartmoor over the past two years it takes in minimal electro, acid house, modern composition and anarchy pop over its 15 tracks. Starting with a rush of analogue driven harmonium it warms into a melting pot of modulating synths, electro beats, acidic textures, lush strings and eerie ambiance. Available as a download and as a limited edition hand printed CD direct from David or via his bandcamp site.

Uplands is a stroll through the mind of Mr David Handford, where you get to visit various padded cells Uplands has an overall dark dystopian feel which moves from modular looping chaos to an acidic techno stomper veering to late 70’s /80’s sounding new wave. There are some beautiful moments along with some tense electronic madness which keep the album moving through various textures to maintain the listeners interest. - Matt Thomas-Willcocks Independent Reviewer
