Critically acclaimed hip-hop fusionist RJD2 combines soul, funk and hip-hop with infectious melancholy in Here's What's Left [AV005/BPM003], his first release for Altered Vibes / Battersea Park Music and the latest addition to a series of funk fuelled 12's from the UK/US label collaboration. Ohio born RJD2 (of Rawkus/ Fondle 'em/ Def Jux recognition) remains true to outstanding form with the bittersweet Here's What's Left, moulding classic funk and soul with a lingering melancholic vocal that melts beatz, bleeps and melody in rare emotive style. An instrumental provides compliment for the freestylers intent on cutting. Two More Dead graces the flip with low-end piano undertones and phat downtempo beatz that command heads to nod. 70's vocal samples garnish to provide pureplay downtempo grooves that exhibit RJD2's unique signature to distinction. Also reworked for the dancefloor by Bristols' Hundred Strong, with added cuts and scratches from Scott Hendry under his Boca 45 guise.'
