Batidas Latinas/Crabwalk

A 2 track funk single (8m 16s) — released June 30th 2008 on Breakin Bread

Breakin' Bread return to the 7" format for this new release by Color Climax. The label established itself with the "Sevens Series" launched in 1999 and has developed to the point where it is releasing fully blown hip hop on 12". However, the collective are determined to keep to their roots by pushing their brand of "Dirty, beatbreakin' funk and hip hop" on both 7" and 12". The last 7" release by this Midlands based duo was "She Took My Love" on the 7th deadly seven. That release was a significant development in their sound and this time round the boys have taken another leap forward. Side A "Batidas latinas" Showing that the guys dig their Latin styles too, this track takes a foray into South America. Starting off with a deep bass groove, the drums soon kick in and how! When the vocals first drop you'll know you are in for something a little different and this track certainly takes you on a trip through build ups, breakdowns and a fantastic drum break. This is destined to rock a whole heap of dancefloors from leftfield jazz clubs to swanky bars to the more open minded hip hop clubs. Side B "Crabwalk" The flipside is destined to become a classic at the Breakin' Bread club nite. Keeping some of the elements from the A-side, Color Climax have created a pure B-boy track. Make sure you come down to the club and see the excitement in the circles that this track creates (we know because we have already tested this in the club!). The drums have been completely "roughened up" and there are enough drum breaks for a full blown b-boy battle. Layers of instrumentation come and go throughout this funk epic and the familiar sound of the CC Hammond makes a few reassuring appearances. Start practising your uprocking now! Future climaxes - watch for more funky 7"s and maybe even some hip hop flavours as they build towards an LP.
