Somewhere Along the Line

A 4 track balearic / downtempo ep (13m 48s) — released February 3rd 2014 on King Deluxe

Segilola Jolaosho is a London-based artist who's debut, Somewhere Along The Line, we'll be featuring early in 2014.

Her collaborating partner here is Kirk Barley, aka Bambooman, who many might recognize from his memorable release on Sonic Router in 2013, "Hollowed". Segilola herself has provided guest vocals on tracks by Occult & Congi, Mute Speaker, and others.

By day Segilola is a neuroscience postgrad who also works in the gaming industry. However, of more interest to her is evolution, and writing poetry I'm told, and of course sound...

"'Music is my life' is very cliche so I think I'd go for 'Music makes my life...'"

Wow... he's one of my favourite producers this year, his name is Bambooman working with a singer named Segilola. - Gilles Peterson BBC Radio 6

...it's a little bit electronic, a little bit soulful, but not overtly either, it almost reminds me a little bit of Bjork... - Andrew Jervis Bandcamp Weekly

There is something visceral and carefully raw about London’s Segilola. Her debut EP, having dropped just now on King Deluxe as one of their first releases of the year, is 4 auditory illustrations of your own inner monologue on a oddly warm, foggy, rainy day. It’s peaceful, in an empowering way. - High On Beats highonebeats.com

Consider yourselves introduced to this new talent who goes by the name of Segilola. The London based artist is about to drop her debut EP “Somewhere Along The Line” and trust me you need this in your life! The track below entitled “Substance Called Love” is a slow minimal cut, with production being deftly handled by Bambooman, but its Segilola’s wonderful laidback soulful vocals that enrich the song. - Twistedsoul twistedsoulboy.com
