Gearing up for the heat of the summer season, Richard Gow returns under his Autosoul guise with 'Music', a thick slice of punchy feel good funk with a twist! The fusion of rhythmic poetry and a simply beautiful vocal chorus provide the cushion for a stomping living groove. This crew has a talent for constructing songs that just make you smile - whether it's in the carefully orchestrated arrangement or just the greater sum of the musical parts, we have no doubt this will challenge the summer sunshine for attention. A1: SOULFUL MIX Calling it an old school groove isn't completely accurate because Autosoul's Soulful mix sits at an energy tempo with some serious punch yet allows the flow of the spoken word to roll naturally atop the beats. The full impact hits at the chorus where your crowd WILL hum along. Sophisticated soulful house at its finest. B1: ORIGINAL MIX This crisp afro-latin-inflected spirit would feel quite at home in a Louie Vega or Osunlade set. A bit of a shift in the vocal swing, the drums sit right in the pocket that gets floors simmering before opening up into sublime beauty. B2: DBR DUB Cheeky is the best way to describe this playful take on 'Music' that just taunts you with a heavy bassline, straight-up dub drums and filtered vocal snips. Piano flies in and out providing the atmosphere for a lush yet heavy rendition of what's already proving to be a winner!'

could also be their best release so far. Containing the 'Rhythm Slaves 80s Soul mix' (which is absolutely tops), the 'Original Mix' and the 'DBR Dub' you should keep your eye on this single as to miss it would be a big mistake! As funky as a mosquito's tweeter. - David Colkett Discoid

The Original mix fuses afro and latin over some tight beats, leaving the old skool DBR Dub to round it off. - Nicky Trax Blues & Soul

Is it funk, is it house, is it funky house? Nah, the 'Rhythm Slaves '80s Soul Mix' ain't funky house, this if tha real deal deal dirty funk happenings that walk so tantalizingly between funk and house music. Raunchy digs of keys stab the start/stop beats as if being plunged in by a homicidal musician with the intent to cause serious musical injury. The 'Original Mix' opts for shuffling Afro-Latin beats, whereas the 'DBR Dub' hits back hard with fierce 4/4 beats and bumpy bassline, shimmering piano and proper dubby attitude. 4/5 - Dj Magazine

The best thing about this is the spoken male vocal, which describes the fusing of harmonic, melodic and rhythmic elements to make music as an analogy for the necessary ingredients for a successful relationship. Garage tune in original lyric shocker! I'm plumping for Rhythm Slaves' '80s Soul Mix, with the tuffer DBR Dub taking the silver; the Original Mix is one for those into their Latin vibes. 4/5 - Russell Deeks iiDJ

"Music, what's it all about? Some people say it's harmony, the meanings of notes and chords.." and so continues the sermon in the funky Rhythm Slaves 80's Soul Mix. Organic latin rhythm build, warm pads and electro inspired bassline characterise this potential summer anthem. The Original Mix is an upbeat Latin-fest groove and the D Dub is a sub bass groover, filtered vocal parts and piano. 4/5 - Mark Moore Blues and Soul
