Love in Beats

A 14 track neo-soul album (58m 56s) — released January 27th 2017 on DO RIGHT! MUSIC

Like many UK soul fans, we've been fans of Omar since he first came to prominence more than two decades ago with the success with his much celebrated single, "There's Nothing Like This" (Talkin' Loud / Kongo Dance 1990). Omar's impressive CV includes collaborations with Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Angie Stone, Common, Estelle, just to name a few. His musical excellence is well known, even earning him an MBE for services to music from Buckingham Palace.

'Love In Beats' is the 8th studio album by Omar and is the most eclectic and electronic sounding album of his career. Co-produced by his brother Scratch Professer at his own Backayard Studio in South London, this 12-track album incorporates soul, Caribbean rhythms, an undercurrent of funk, with touches of zouk, jazz and spoken word. Combining his unique voice and multi-instrumental production skills, Omar and Scratch Professer have brought forth a beautifully formed and career-defining new collection.

Omar has a long history of fruitful collaboration and 'Love In Beats' is no different. The album features contributions from the likes of soul legend Leon Ware, Blue Note pianist Robert Glasper, soulstress Natasha Watts, The Floacist, Mayra Andrade, UK rapper Ty, and Guadeloupean singer Jean-Michele Rotin.

"This album is labour of love between myself and my Grammy award winning brother Scratch Professer. Powerful songs over mesmerising beats is the evolution," Omar explains, "that is Omar Music and Brothers Sound, it is truly - Love in Beats."
