The Lullaby Wars

Daniel McDermott is an Irish composer, guitarist, pianist and producer. His output includes albums

and modern classical pieces. He studied in Queens University Belfast, Dundalk Institute of

Technology and Trinity College Dublin. His music fuses elements of jazz, classical, world, minimal

techno and electronica. As a pianist he has attended masterclasses with Barry Douglas and Antonio

Breschi. He has also attended guitar masterclasses with Gyan Riley.

He has achieved one scholarship in composition and has attended composition masterclasses under

Donnacha Dennehy, Brian Irvine and Simon Bainbridge. His classical music has been selected by

The Crash Ensemble for Free State 7 and awards include the IMRO music award for his string

orchestra piece STAB. His piano trio GRIT was selected and performed at the Derry/Londonderry

UK city of culture.He has released two electronica albums; his second, From nothing to nothing

was released on London record label Malatoid records. His music has also been performed by world

renowned Oud virtuoso Marina Toschich, The Fidelio trio, New Dublin Voices, The Kirkos

Ensemble, The Crash ensemble, Clarinettist Paul Roe, Plane Dukes Rahman trio and pianist Ian

Buckle.

His third album "The Lullaby Wars" blends modern classical players with dubstep, IDM, techno

and ambient influences. Tracks like The Lullaby Wars (Clarinet), Child to Cynic (prepared piano)

and Choke (cello) pit "classical" instruments against electronic production techniques. The vocal

tracks, like "Moving With The Sun" and "Bear The Tears" showcase more post dubstep and ambient

influences.
