Rogue Rock (Special Edition)

A 19 track beats & breaks album (1h 54m 8s) — released June 16th 2008 on Exceptional Records

While The Rogue Element (aka Ben Medcalf) is busy touring the globe and putting together his second album, his 'Exceptional' label is treating us with a 'Special Delivery' edition of the his debut album 'Rogue Rock' accompanied by a second disc that will leave dance/break beat/electro/indie fans alike salivating with excitement.

The 2ndDisc features nine dance floor stompers never available on CD before. It includes the most recent single for Exceptional, 'Dead Drummers' / 'The Moves', Rogues' award winning remix for Noisia's 'Gutterpump' (Best Remix, Breakspoll) and his massive remixes for Soul Of Man's 'Sukdat', Dylan Rhymes' 'Muzika' and label mates' Culprit 1's 'Tricks'. In addition to that we have the 12' version of 'Breathe' with a brand new electro breaks remix by Elite Force and Vandal's interpretation of 'Rogue Rock'.

In case you missed out on 'Rogue Rock' first time round, it still sounds fresh and exciting, kicking in with dance-floor smashes 'Let Me Breathe' and 'My Style', it takes grip and doesn't let go. Rogue's eye is always on the dance-floor with a take-no-prisoners approach to production, he bridges the gap between underground and commercial, breathing a new life into the breaks scene.

Since signing a two-album deal with the reputable and eclectic Exceptional Records in 2004, The Rogue Element has taken the dance world by storm. A string of singles received instant support from the Plump DJs, Freestylers, Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts, The Crystal Method, Hyper and Rennie Pilgrem and culminated in Ben being awarded the 'Best Breakthrough Producer' award at the prestigious Breakspoll International Breakbeat Awards at Fabric in 2006 . In addition to this the acclaimed debut album 'Rogue Rock' was released in September 2005, which received a nomination for 'Best Album'.

2006 saw The Rogue Element continue in a prolific manner with remixes of some of the biggest names in breakbeat (Stanton Warriors, Freestylers, Krafty Kuts, the Crystal Method) and drum and bass, (Noisia ) . DJ tours took him all over Central and Eastern Europe, to the Far East, and to Australia and New Zealand. Continued collaborations with Tom Real, available on Functional, were similarly lauded and succeeded in crossing over to the electro scene ('He's So Hot Right Now'). Latest single 'Dead Drummers/The Moves' (as featured on this album) received huge support from major DJs and national radio alike. The Rogue Element's ascent from newcomer to major player was confirmed at the Breakspoll 2007 Awards, where Ben claimed the gongs for 'Best Producer' and 'Best Remix'.

2007 has started well with remixes for Fatboy Slim and various indie bands such as The Broken Family Band, and a second studio album is currently in its early stages and is expected to be released later in the year.
