First single 'The Self' explored the 140bpm world of dubstep. New single 'Law' is an ode to Spaven's passion for drum n' bass. Awash with Stuart McCallum's melancholic chords, the tight shifting rhythms showcase Spaven's trademark drumming style - precision, creativity, and finesse.

Richard Spaven has gained international recognition and praise for supplying the drums for many artists on stage and in the studio. José James, Guru's Jazzmatazz, Flying Lotus, The Cinematic Orchestra, Ty and Jameszoo. Working closely with a diverse range of artists has made him a genre defying drummer. This comes to fruition with Richard's first single 'The Self' which features vocalist Jordan Rakei and has received airplay from Benji B, Gilles Peterson, Jamie Cullum and Mary Anne Hobbs.

On the forthcoming full album Richard collaborates with artists with diverse backgrounds - Jordan Rakei, Jameszoo, pianist Kris Bowers, MC Cleveland Watkiss and Richard's established partner in crime, guitarist and composer Stuart McCalum.

With 'The Self' Richard takes us on a personal musical journey. The moment in time where a jazz drummer affirms his love for club culture and delivers an album that travels through Dubstep, Drum n' Bass, Broken Beat and more. All combined with Richard's unique and stylish take on drumming. which has made him a sort after performer with the above artists and at drum events and festivals globally.
