Shake 'Em Down

A 2 track breaks single (11m 16s) — released July 18th 2011 on Finger Lickin

In May 2004, Finger Lickin’ Records celebrated their 5th birthday - a milestone in anyone’s language. Together with a massive party at the Coronet in London and the release of “It’s A Finger Lickin’ Thang 3â€, the label has also reached its 50th sin- gle. And who better to represent the label on this momentous occasion than the label’s founders - SOUL OF MAN. The label responsible for bringing us block party hip-hop courtesy of A. Skillz & Krafty Kuts, the hypnotic grooves of Lee Coombs and omnipotent breaks duo the Plump DJs began life back in 1999. While Armand Van Helden was taking house music to the top of charts and the world was discovering a new pop princess in Britney Spears, music of a decidedly darker disposition was being brewed in a Camden basement. Beneath the record shop that was to become the Break-beat Retailer Of The Year 2004, Justin Rushmore and Jem Panufnik put the finishing Jem Panufnik put the finishing Jem Panufnik touches to their first Finger Lickin’ nugget: ‘Love & Hate’, released under their Soul Of Man guise. Over half a million single sales and 100,000 album sales later the label has become an ever present fi xture in almost every DJ’s box. SHAKE ‘EM DOWN is an all out aural assault full of funk, phatness and general freakiness that you have come to expect from Soul Of Man. It has been in Ali B’s Capital FM Chart since the minute it hit a CDR and has remained there ever since. It also featured on Soul Of Man’s recent Y4K “Breakin’ In The House†mix CD for Distinct’ive and has been a surefi re dancefloor filler for every DJ that managed to get their hands on a copy. On the flip is the speaker-shattering Dylan Rhymes mix that completes this extra special Finger Lickin’ package.
