Aroop amalgamates his various influences on Nomadic Soul (Freestyle) into a dance floor-orientated, electric soul workout. Latin jazz, soulful house, classic garage and chillout are shaped into tightly produced grooves that often sound warmly nostalgic. This impressive debut album from ertwhile 'gaijin in Tokyo' and now London based DJ/producer opens with the carefree broekn beat track 'The Lonely Years' and. Like a chameleon, colourshifts through jazzy grooves, electro, fusion workouts (on the spectacular 'Dirty Groove') and the bebop ricanstruction 'Told Me'. Roy shows a deft ear for melody and top notch production steez. - www.shook.fm Shook magazine

Aroop Roy has conjured up an album that is as sensitive as it considerably exciting. Explosive in humongous energy of rhythm, melodies and seductive harmonies laid on, it is likely to be alluring (I'd bet on it if I could) to the most finicky critics of contemporary Black music. It's my kind of progressive underground Dance music - jump on board and let yourself go to enter a realm of quality soul fusion. 9/10 - Marcia Carr

Nomadic Soul launches in with the wry reflections of “Lonely Years,” featuring sultry Toronto diva Sacha Williamson. It’s a propulsive dancefloor anthem underpinned by a greasy synth bass line, but with jazz-funk orchestration - http://metropolis.co.jp Metropol;is magazine
