Kiriakos 76

A 2 track europe/mediterranean ep (7m 42s) — released November 5th 2012 on Fortuna Records

Fortuna Records' second release comes from one of the most interesting Greek artists to operate in Israel in the 1970's.

Nino Nikolaidis.

With a deep voice and suave looks, Nino quickly became one of the hottest singers on the scene. The first ones to spot Nino's talent and put him on tape were the Azoulay brothers, owners of "Koliphone" Records, the mother-ship label and record store of the Jaffa scene.

This 45 is the perfect example of how the tavern nights would sound like. Nino, despite his Greek origins, performs two Turkish songs: 'Kiryakos 76' - a wild instrumental backed by a fuzzy guitar and a manic farfisa organ. This thrilling cut would be played at the peak of the night bringing the crowd to total ecstasy. Then comes "Ne Sevenim Var Ne Soranim" a heavy and melancholic ballad with a haunting melody. The perfect soundtrack to the end of the night.
