Just an Ode

A 5 track alternative rap/hip-hop ep (21m 13s) — released June 4th 2012 on First Word Records

First Word are very excited to present a brand new EP from Border Crossing. Born out of the melting pot that is Ladbroke Grove, West London with it's unique tradition of merging musical styles, Border Crossing's sound emerged in 2004. Their critically acclaimed debut LP 'Ominous' expressed this diverse range of influences, drawing upon reggae, soul, rock, jazz & hip hop. The second album 'Freedom of Speech' signalled a harder sound with more vocal collaborations, before a venture into the purely instrumental sound of their third release, 'Starlines & Stellagrams' in 2010.

Core members AJ & Seorais were joined by beatmaker Ollie Bishop and experienced engineer and musician Nick Rundall for their last album and their remixes for Jehst and Easy Star All Stars. Their new material is a natural progression from this, with added vocals from the likes of Jyager, Jehst, Knati P, Rakin Niass and Fat Jon, The Ample Soul Physician. This EP covers all aspects of the BC sound in 2012 - laid back dub, smoky hip hop, low slung instrumental beats and a couple of surefire dancefloor cuts for the DJs.
