Station Masters

A 13 track art & progressive rock album (40m 57s) — released October 7th 2016 on Gare du Nord Records

London multi instrumentalist Ben Reed is the latest artist to join the Gare Du Nord Records roster with his new album of surreal prog pop Station Masters.

It's Reed's third record, following on from two self released albums - Tall Story in 2004 and Who Dreams of Hyssop in 2009.

Station Masters is Ben's first non-instrumental album and features involvement from, amongst others, Laura Groves, Bullion and Ross Stanley – there's also a version of Portuguese poet Manuel de Freitas' Errata set to pastoral guitars and summery Robert Wyatt/Beach Boys-esque vocals.

In terms of influences, there are touches of English prog, even jazz, and plenty of lyrical whimsy – think Stackridge, Zdenek Liska, The Left Banke, Duncan Browne, Fifth Dimension, etc – there's a strong hint of the Canterbury sound too, running through Reed's Ealing-raised psyche – Soft Machine, Hatfield & The North and beyond….

The album is being released on vinyl (CD inside) and digital, and Ben is planning to support the release with a few select live shows.
