Alf Tumble & Halina Larsson - The Right Words EP

Alf Tumble & Halina Larsson

The Right Words EP

Heya Hifi

Released: 4th June 2012 | 6 track electropop ep

'The Right Words' is a collaboration between Brooklyn based, Swedish singer Halina Larsson and Stockholm based producer / DJ Alf Tumble. A reworking ('Rebounce' as Alf likes to put it) of the title track from Halina's debut album, blending the Swedish chanteuse's vocal perfectly with Alf's disco tinged electronica magic, creating an ethereally beautiful and uplifting track.

Halina was born in Stockholm, raised in Paris and has spent the last few years living in America and she now calls Brooklyn her home. With a classical and jazz background - Halina studied jazz at the Los Angeles Music Academy - she has a versatile yet delicate vocal quality. Her solo music fits somewhere between neo-soul and indie folk, drawing influence from Erykah Badu, St Vincent, Janis Joplin and Feist with Vice Magazine describing her ...;voice is pretty mesmerizing.

Alf Tumble is somewhat of a stalwart on the Swedish disco house scene over the last fifteen years.Mostly known under the monikersSumo,BanganaandMarymary- he's had releases on labels such as Defected,Africanism,TrackmodeandSoulfuricand remixed forCompost,DessousandWall of Sound and washonoured with aGrammynomination in 2006. Things really kicked off for Alf when he released Wilder Side, a collaboration between Rasmus Faber, Alf and Candi Staton. Several years on and Alf is still honing his production skills in his the studio but also finds time to be a sommelier, wine writer and editor for the food magazine Fokus Krog.

This first single marks the rebirth of the label. The truth is it never really went away. It was just taking a little sabbatical while co-owners / producer / DJ's Alf Tumble and Combo pursued new challenges in their lives - parenting, jazz musicianship, becoming a sommelier ...; the usual stuff.

A chance meet via musical connections in Japan brought English artist manager Nathaniel Perkins and Swedish producer, writer, label owner, DJ and generally successful musical busy-body Rasmus Faber together with Alf and Combo.

The ties between old and new ownership in the label are strong and exemplified by this first single Alf serves up with Rasmus Faber and Combo both chipping in to remix.
