The Imaginary Band

A 13 track leftfield/idm album (43m 42s) — released April 19th 2010 on Highscore Publishing

"The Imaginary Band" is the debut album by Dutch Rhythm Combo. Conceived as an imaginary band, the sound of the Dutch Rhythm Combo can't be precisely categorized. One can roughly locate it in a sound spectrum that spans dub, disco, funk and latin which get freshly flavoured with an acoustic twist. The music emerged out of long jam sessions with a wide range of musicians from all over the globe. Felix Haaksman was pulling the strings, recording, arranging and producing music of his imaginary band that could never exist in reality, with its members being from trans-local, trans-continental origin: Edu K is the former singer and front man Brazilian punk band De Falla. Joe Dukie from New Zealand's hot reggae-soul outfit Fat Freddys Drop. Grammy nominated singer and multi-instrumentalist Luke Reynolds from Los Angeles released a wide range of acoustic driven records. In total, seventeen musicians from seven different countries are involved in this album. To put it short, it's a worldwide affair. Between 2003 and 2005 the Dutch Rhythm Combo released various songs and EPs on Pulver Records and Best Seven Records to critical acclaim. In 2007, the highly praised Bonaire remix series were released with four groundbreaking remixes from Blackjoy, Al Usher, Maximilian Skiba and Soul Village. This wonderful remix package got featured by many DJs and producers: "Great Mood" (Greg Wilson), "Absolutely love it" (Ashley Beedle), "Really future retro" (Yam Who?) just to name a few. In 2008 Dutch Rhythm Combo returned with a stunning imaginary musical journey to the caribbean islands: "Sounds Of The Caribbean". The follow up "Sounds Of The Carribean Remixed" featured remixes by Ray Mang, one of London's most prolific disco dub vanguards, and the dub outfit Dubben, who gained prominence with their rework of Juca Chavez' "Take Me Back To Piaui". Felix Haaksman has also been producing various remixes with his brother Daniel under the moniker "Haaksman+Haaksman", including remixes for Ray Barretto, Gotan Project, Tosca, Shantel, Nickodemus and many others. Since 2009 Felix has been concentranting on his Imaginary Band, the Dutch Rhythm Combo. We are happy to announce the release of his debut album. Watch out for the remix album coming in autumn 2010!
