The Raid is a journey into the vaults of two of the hottest funk breaks labels in the world. Jalapeno Records home to Skeewiff , IKON & Kraak & Smaak represent the UK, while Fort Knox Recordings, home to the Fort Knox 5 are representing the USA. The FK5 have built themselves a name worldwide over the last three years with singles and remixes for some of the dopest labels and artists around. This album represents the first time that their works have been collected on CD ahead of a Fort Knox Five artist album next year.
Jalapeno Records, set up by Skeewiff founders Elliot and Alex in 2000 has been at the forefront of a burgeoning funk breaks / lounge-hop scene that runs side by side with the mainroom breaks sound that is dominant in clubland right now.
Skeewiff and FK5 have each done an exclusive remix of one of the others tracks for this album. These two remixes will also be released on a 12†to promote the album. In addition there are rarities and exclusives from both camps for the collector including tracks & remixes by Australia’s Resin Dogs and Kraak & Smaak.
CD 1 featuring full length unmixed versions and CD 2 a version mixed by Skeewiff with bonus tracks from Kraak & Smaak, IKON and the Skeewiff biys themselves.
