The Vertical City

A 4 track power electronics/noise ep (22m 17s) — released March 18th 2013 on Jehu & Chinaman

The Vertical City EP is a homage to JG Ballard's 1975 masterpiece High Rise, with each of the four tracks taking on the title of a chapter from the book. It is less than an unofficial soundtrack and more of an exploration of the themes, textures and ideas at the core of the dark heart of the dystopian novel, which examines how the urban landscape and advances in technology can warp and distort the human psyche.

Rejections is Michael Hann, a Teesside, UK based producer and owner of the Reject and Fade label. The Vertical City EP will be the fourth Rejections release, following 2011's Concur EP, the Clone EP, which was released by Alt Vinyl in June 2012, and the Receding Zones single which was released digitally through Boomkat in November 2012. The Vertical City EP follows hot on the heels of the first set of releases on Jehu and Chinaman which went out in December 2012 and was made up of works by UK synth prodigy Komodo Haunts, Canadian noise racketeer Wizard Of and drone maestro Derek Rogers.
