That's What Friends Are For

A 2 track classic r&b single (6m 3s) — released July 8th 2016 on Jazzman

Soul diva Madeline Bell was born in the US, but during the '60s she settled in the UK. As a session vocalist and with her band Blue Mink, her vocals have been heard on countless records ranging from the Rolling Stones to Joe Cocker to Elton John (eugh – she must have done that one for the money), and as an individual she has made several singles and LPs. Then in 1976 she found some spare moments to record for the Themes library label in London, the very label that gave us two of the most sought-after library LPs of all time, namely the two volumes of the Hanged Man 'Drama Suite'. Collaborating with veteran librarian Alan Parker, they came up with an irresistibly catchy & soulful samba but with an intriguing jazzy & punchy edge to it – and that's what we have here! Play it: hear the clear, vivid sound. One side is vocal, the other instrumental. First commercial release, and first time on 7" vinyl.
