The Pant

A 4 track beats & breaks ep (17m 56s) — released June 27th 2005 on Jack To Phono

From the dusty vaults of Jack to Phono we present 'The Pant' by Mamaluke. Brainchild of DJ Schack and Ghetto Svend, these 2 Danes hail from Jutland (thats the bit joined to Germany.) Geography lesson over - and now the music one begins... Released after a great reaction on CDR during a DJ set at the Jazz Cafe when a flurry of tastemaker DJs crowded round the box to ask for a copy. Already receiving play from XFM's Nick Luscombe and Dom Servini (Wah Wah 45s) in its original form, we decided to add some remixes to this summer fuelled jazzy little number. First up, Jack to Phono's Beatphreak turn up the breaks, retaining the catchy hook but adding a funkin disco vibe. Look out for this one on the dancefloor- already a favourite at Friends and Family in Manchester and sure to spread throughout the land. Next up Tru Thought's wunderkind Flevans gives us a guitar led workout - again keeping the flavour of the original but taking it into deeper funk territory - just check that bass! Lastly DJ Schack Attack plus multi instru-mentalist Henrik 'Konnikol' Andersen re-tweak the the track into a flamenco styled monster under their Yogasm Sound System moniker - a Cafe Del Mar classic in the making! Enjoy your summer 2005 workout!'

A Danish peculiarity of paintbrushes going across drums backwards, the Cookie Monster clearing his throat, and an addictively niggling Spanish guitar wind-up toy going round and round. Plush brasses act as guard of honour for Beatphreak?s remix swishing the rhythm stick, Flevans slapping the bass heartily for funkateers and Yogasm Sound System literally cracking the whip of trundling-n-twisting Latin spirit. **** - Update
