Spirits Up Above (feat. Julia Fehenberger)

Tramp Records

Released: 2nd July 2012 | 2 track vocal jazz single

Spiritual vocal jazz of the highest order! The 11th release in the JAZZ DANCE SERIES comes from Deep Jazz, one of the finest bands on the Munich Jazz scene.

Band leader and bass player Jerker Kluge is deeply rooted in the jazz music of the 1960s, as released on legendary labels Impulse and Blue Note. The core of his new album is the spiritual and modal jazz from this era, but of course Kluge´s own musical ideas and influences are added, creating a special musical cosmos that is additionally spiced by the individual talents of the involved musicians.

Their debut 45RPM single features the Roland Kirks original Spirits Up Above backed by Kluge's own composition No Doubt. Both tunes feature the phenomenal voice of Julia Fehenberger who is best known for her work with the Boogoos and their now classic interpretation of the Art Ensemble of Chicago's Theme de Yoyo.
