Calvin Hodge/Bridget Cooper – (Get Into) The Love Groove

2013 marks the 30th anniversary of Bridget Cooper's "(Get Into) The Love Groove" release. Légère Recordings is proud to present the official re-release of the original 45 version of this seminal boogie tune written and produced by Calvin Hodge.

After graduating from secondary High School at the age of 16 in 1973, Calvin Hodge studied a book called "Teach Yourself Songwriting" and he began to write a song each day. He walked around the villages of Antigua on the British West Indies were he was born, singing his melodies. A year later he discovered Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff's productions for Philadelphia International Records, was immediately hooked by their composer skills and decided that he wanted to produce and release music by himself.

When he got his three month visa for the USA in 1978 he used it well to travel to Hollywood, California to try and pursue his career. After getting good feedback during his first visit he returned for good in 1979. "(Get Into) The Love Groove" became his first song ever recorded, the mixes were laid down at "Doctor Musix Recording Studio" in Hollywood in 1982 featuring the female singer Mary Love.

Calvin obtained a "single song contract" from Birdie Records in Detroit, Michigan to have another artist by the name of Bridget Cooper release the song in 1983, which was a modified version from what Calvin Hodge originally performed. This version made it to the Billboard Magazine's "Top Single Picks" category on June 4, 1983.
