Flookinʼ, 2003ʼs massive anthem gets several facelifts from an all-stellar cast. Back then, Solid Grooveʼs ʻFlookinʼ smashed up dance floors with its bad booming percussion, afro- licks and jazzy flute solos. It also hit Gilles Petersonʼs ʻWorldWide Winnersʼ chart alongside support that came from Jazzanova to bugz alongside support from Francois K, Kenny Dope and the list goes on. Fast forward over a year later and ʻFlookinʼ returns to do the same thing. The ever-consistent Domu turns in two deviant mixes, kicking the track into new territories in his distinctive style. Solid Groove revisits his original, keeping those drums but stripping the track down to a minimum, with a truly nasty bass line that will shake the bins. Watch out! Trevor Loveys pulls on the brakes, slowing the track to a hip-hop tempo, cutting up the vocals and flutes for a lovely after-hours moment. Last but not least we have the honour of, Flookinʼ fan, Kenny Dope from Masters At Work fame, on board to re-edit the original. Condensed into just over 3 minutes with great uses of scratched cut-up vocal snippets and sirens, this edit will do the trick on the dance floors.
