Goethe was good. So good that a young girl named Fleur Earth inspired by the lyricism of the poet-prince discovered the letter for himself and eventually with her lyrics came out of the microphone. Their poetry was rap, but had little to do with what type of other rappers in Germany itself. She was oblique and coded but also deeper and more personal. Presented with a voice that is not soon forgotten again and even more enchanted, since it rhymes not only speaks but sings. Thus, from Mouanga Fleur Fleur Earth.
Born in the former GDR, Fleur spent her childhood in the Congo as a teenager and came to Cologne. About tortuous paths, they met on C: Mone (vocals), Tim Purnell (bass), Daan Henderson (keys), Lewis Gropp (drums) and Max Girkes (guitar). The experiment could begin, and found in the basement bars, at parties or alternative Art & Free Outdoor Festival quickly make new friends and like-minded people.
The music is a withdrawn but incisive blend of soul, reggae, jazz and rock. Played with the knowledge of 30 years, hip-hop and depends on Fleur's lyrics and melodies. "We re functioning like clockwork," she explains. "The gears are all perfectly, and everything turns in the right rhythm." Basically, it's soul music, but just in German. A contradiction in terms? Perhaps, but not with the experiment. A Fleur song sounds at first hearing, abstract, or cryptic, but never hyper-intellectual. "The texts are drawn from the depths of my heart," said Fleur, "and always tell what I have learned, whether pain or joy. Everything is processed and encrypted. Will you need it to decipher both heart and mind. Even better, you can easily take away from Fleur's voice and the melodies grow and discover how the songs and pictures with each listening.
In the beginning is usually a beat. The MPC comes from Tim's and Fleur writes a text. Thus it is in the rehearsal room, where the band makes a song from the sketch. Sometimes it also remains in the beat-plus-Fleur, because it does not fit into the tape format, or as it is simply perfect. These miniatures will regularly whizzing around the net and matrialisierten with the mini album "Skurreal" (Sept 08) also on CD, LP and MP3 bundles. The reactions eingermaßen sensationally dropped from the experiment and made the first known beyond the borders of Cologne.
