Mar Variations 1 + 2
A 2 track single (1m 28s) — released April 11th 2011 on Melting Pot Music
Limited vinyl series of the much talked about Mar Variations project from Amsterdam. A variation is a different version of a song, improved by vocals of Mar. The singer and musician (best known for his work with producer Full Crate) shares his monthly variations through his website marvariations.net.
"1st Session", a production from Dutch beatmaker Louis Bordeaux, was originally an instrumental cut, released by the now defunct Appletree Records. It's a dusty all live jazz jam and a perfect fit fo Mar's sexy vocal delivery.
"Bipolar Friendship" takes a complete different route. Produced by Sir OJ (of Slumgullion fame) under his dubstep moniker Orange Breakdown, this bass-heavy joint follows Mar into clubland territory.
The Mar Variations are endorsed by a network of creative folks from Amsterdam: Dolly Rogers (We Transfer) do the artwork, Full Crate is responsible for the sound design, director/photographer Yoji Moniz makes the videos and web trendsetter Nalden lends the project with his digital super powers.
