A leading figure from the original Chicago House Music scene, ROY DAVIS JR. is currently one of the most sought-after producers in the nu-soul and dance music scenes. He has performed at thousands of events around the world as both headlining DJ and as part of his live nine-piece band ROY DAVIS JR. & THE SOLDIERS OF UNIVERSAL LOVE (S.O.U.L). Water For Thirsty Children is without question some of the best work Roy Davis Jr. has released to date. This new album promises to deliver the signature groove based soulful house tunes that Roy has become internationally renowned for, as well as a new, deeper side of his journey into the realm of urban music. This collection of all original tracks makes a stunningly heroic leap into various elements of deeply moving soul, R&B, crossover jazz and house. Featuring a multitude of guest musicians, the album pushes the funk with guitars, bass, sax and trumpet riding along Roy's jazzy keyboard and drum work. Roy himself also performs vocal duties on 7 of the 9 tracks, with additional vocal finesse from Chicago mc J. FURY and Tokyo's top poet/mc MARCELLUS, whose captivating flow graces the album's title track. His recent remix for England's SEAL on the track, 'Get It Together' went to #1 for two weeks in a row on the U.S. Billboard dance charts in September 2003. No stranger to the top of the charts, Roy's remixes for MODJO's 'Lady (Hear Me Tonight)' also reached #1 in 2001, and Roy's own genre-defining 2-step track from 1997 'Gabrielle' was in nearly every international dance magazine's top 10 of the year. Roy has also remixed many top artists including Mary J Blige, D'Angelo, Eric Benet and Faith Evans, Ian Pooley and dozens more. Promotional, Tour and Video Support Spring tours currently being organized for Europe, Japan, Canada, USA. A music video is in production for Dance Shake' and will be available in May. More than 500 media outlets will be receiving promotional copies of the disc. Upcoming Remixes Melodies From Heaven: The downtempo original track gets the double time treatment from Christian Prommer and Roland Appel of Fauna Flash and The Truby Trio courtesy of Compost Records, due out on a forthcoming nice+smooth 12' also featuring the hip-hop track 'The Way We Were '. "Roy steps forth with some incredible soul on this set -- moving into a realm of cosmic soul that easily rivals the best of the century so far!" Keys and beats are nice and lean -- compressed into a groove that's got traces of Stevie Wonder, but none of the simple 70s cliches that seem to clutter up the bigger label's Neo Soul work in recent years" - Dusty Groove

"He celebrates the love for the music and for the life" - Raveline Mag (Germany)

" Soul is the preacher and Jazz is the teacher." - De Bug Magazine De-Bug

"Chilled-out vocal house tracks with light-footed hip-hop joints, evocative spoken-word sidetrips, come-hither slow jams" - Ben Rayner Toronto Star

"Filled with smoothed-out instrumentation and soulful, upfront vocals...Much of this sharing has to do with Davis' spiritual beliefs, long the core subject of his lyrics...Davis has long managed to appeal to church members and non-believers alike". - DENISE BENSON Eye Weekly

"a call to arms for those longing for an album of emotional and meaningful house" - Kingsley Marshall IDJ

"closer to D.Angelo than Derrick Carter. Stripped-down soul dominates initially, there's then a natural progression toward bumpier disco territory " - Flux Magazine

This is an album loaded with soulful, post house tales from the windy city (4 stars) - Kingsley Marshall Klub Knowledge
