Aiming to pick up where they left off with Sugar Beats, The Sub Ensemble project is danceable, uplifting jazz music with raw grooves, moving melodies and fluid improvisation. Picked up by Domu from a tip off courtesy of label mate Ben Mi Duck, the Midlands based 8 piece had a quality 4 tracker ready produced and needing a good home. Treble O seemed the place, with its history of releasing anything from Jazz to Soul to the more beaty stuff, and this EP is the result.
Faster Than The Sun features guest vocalist Sara Colman. An up-tempo Fusion track, it was bootlegged from the band's Myspace page for a play on 1Xtra by Domu, who has also done an exclusive remix of this track featured on this release. 22:21 is a fast, thrashy Latin tune with a BIG percussion breakdown. This track previously appeared on the Here comes Treble compilation released on Treble O in May. Warning Fire is a collaboration with vocalist Leo Altarelli in an almost drum and bass jazz style, whilst Beautiful Spring is a mellower, more spiritual jazz track.
