The Apple

A 10 track leftfield/idm album (1h 4m 20s) — released November 13th 1991 on Other Records Ltd

Originally released on Big Life Records, The Apple is the hugely ambitious debut long player from A Man Called Adam's Sally Rodgers and Steve Jones. Produced by Rodgers, Jones and their long- time friend and collaborator Mat Clark, the album journeys from camp histrionics to spaced out Sci-Fi disco, Latin Jazz and twisted psychedelia. Complex arrangements, orchestral grandeur and analogue chaos surround delicate pop tunes like the original Balearic classic Barefoot In the Head and the disco anthem Bread, Love and Dreams. It remains one of dance music's few, genuine, concept albums and to this day has an army of devoted fans. It may well be a towering work of genius - if not, it certainly has its moments. The Apple has been lovingly remastered by Mat Clark himself, at Sonica Studios, London and sounds like it might have been made yesterday.
