Nicola Conte Presents Viagem Vol.5 (LTD EDITION 10" ALBUM)

A 10 track brazil album (10m 53s) — released December 16th 2013 on Far Out Recordings

Italian jazz man Nicola Conte is internationally known for his sophisticated productions on labels such as Blue Note and Universal, as well as touring the world with his floor-shaking DJ sets.

The passion and knowledge that Conte brings from the DJ booth is perfectly represented here in this collection.

This Viagem 10" is the first volume of a five-part vinyl only series dedicated to bringing some of the rarest and most sought after samba jazz and bossa gems to a new generation of record collectors.

The majority of these tracks have only seen the light of the day on small 7" runs in 1960s Brazil and they're next to impossible to find!

The dance fever commences with 'Onda Quebrando', a real nugget by Neyde Frega followed by an infectious version of Jorge Ben's classic 'Take it easy my brother Charlie' by Breno Sauer Quarteto. The A side is rounded out by two more swingin' bossa cuts by Elizabeth Viana and Dr. Severino and the rare 7" cut of 'Crepusculo' by Jazz 4! The B side sees one of the era's best trumpeters, Papudinho, bring forth 'Ye Mele', a boogaloo number full of life and energy. More brass action follows with two intoxicating cuts by Nelsinho & Os Ipanemas and Conjunto Sergio Carvalho with 'Babalao' & 'Balaio'.

'Neurotico' by Pedrinho Mattar Trio picks up the pace with a frantic interplay between the group's three instruments and Edith Vega closes the EP in fine style with the sultry vocal and organ-led strut of 'Matando a Miseria a Pau'.

For the connoisseur of authentic dancefloor gems from far-flung corners of the globe, or quite simply if you just love good music, this collection of lost Brazilian classics is not to be missed!
