A New Standard Of The Future

A 12 track acid jazz single (1h 16m 57s) — released January 1st 2006 on Pantone

' NEW STANDARD OF THE FUTURE ' • The debut long player from the Tokyo saxophonist Kaz Katsuta AKA Jafrosax • Produced by Yukihiro Fukutomi and Jazztronik ("Samurai") • Features Vikter Duplaix, Yukimi Nagano (Koop), DJ Mitsu The Beats • Sleeve designed by Mitchy Bwoy (Amp Fiddler, Straight No Chaser, Addict, Warp) Jafrosax's "New Standard of The Future" meshes together the elements of new and old with a wicked spin on the future. Yukimi Nagano (Koop), Philadelphia's Vikter Duplaix and Japan's producer de jour DJ Mitsu The Beats are amongst the wealth of talent assembled on this project. Vocal Casanova Vikter Duplaix introduces the album with 'In The Morning', a mellow spring affair with his life affirming lyrics sitting on top of a sweet Brazilian house vibe from Jazztronik. Released as a promo 12" in the summer it found itself in every quality DJ's box. Spearheaded by the spine tinkling vocals of Yukimi, the tracks 'Wait and See' and 'Drawn 2 U' highlight why she has been dubbed the Billie Holiday of the modern era. 'Wait and See' sits with high tempo broken beat action exploring the depth and mood of Yukimi's voice. 'Drawn 2 U' has found fans worldwide especially from Dimitri From Paris who features it on his forthcoming Defected CD ' in the House of Love'. The title track is a flagship for the album's unique style with Underground Resistance's timeless classic 'Hi Tech Jazz' getting the Jafrosax makeover to sterling effect. Beatmaker of the moment DJ Mitsu The Beats stands tall alongside his local outfit' Gaggle' to team up on production on 'Shin Ku Kan'. Also featured as bonus tracks are 'Drawn To You' flipped by fellow Tokyo neighbours and King Street recording artists Studio Apartment and In 'The Morning' remixed by Faze Action's new studio moniker 'Orto'.
