Preachin' Talk

A 2 track jump blues single (4m 43s) — released March 14th 2011 on Popcorn

Our second single on our Popcorn label, out there to focus the intriguing Belgium Popcorn sound. Popcorn is a seductive and addictive style of music which has been growing rapidly in popularity amongst Soul and R&B collectors these past few years. With both versions of obscure Detroit artist Roy Corwin and his wonderfully impious 'Preachin' Talk', we've pulled two outstanding popcorn anthems out of the bag for our second release. Each subtly but significantly different to each other but both conveying perfectly the Popcorn sound! A laid back finger-popping rhythm, some shuffling percussion accompaniment, almost gospel styled backing vocals and a crooned jazz-accented lead from Corwin, this is every inch the classy little number. For reasons unclear, Corwin recorded the song twice and for two separate Detroit indies. Neither the Hob or Roman issue are liable to turn up for sale very often, both are very rare, which makes this a nicely convenient way to acquire both excellent recordings at once.
