Cesars Salad

The finest of The Latin Beat Vol.1&2

Perfect Toy

Released: 26th November 2012 | 8 track latin soul album

When the unique percussionist Cesar Granados and his latin-jazz quartet play only three things count: groove, groove and more groove! On The Latin Beat Vol.1&2 Cesar's Salad play a selection of their favourite Latin and Brazilian jazz tunes from the likes of Herbie Hancock, Weldon Irvine Jr, Horace Silver, and others. Furthermore the band members wrote some delicious original compositions which fit perfectly and sound like they had been recorded back in the 1960s.

This outstanding set of percussion-heavy Latin jazz tracks is delivered by a combo of only four musicians that very often sounds like a much bigger group. Titles include the classics Watermelon Man, Song for my Father and Liberated Brother as well as new compositions like The Man from Panama and La Serpiente. In addition to his mighty Conga grooves, Cesar contributes infectious vocals on three tunes (El Dynamico, Yenyeré and The Man from Panama) and delivers two outstanding timbales solos!

The band consists of the great Cesar Granados (congas, timbales, vocals) from Panama City, one of Europe's leading percussionists. He is joined by Jo Junghanss (piano) who lives and works in New York City, Jerker Kluge (bass) and Hajo von Hadeln (drums), who have played together as a rhythm-section for years and are the foundation for this band. This superb collection will have you grooving on and on and on!
