Point of Seeing

A 2 track dubstep single (10m 15s) — released March 5th 2012 on Ranking Records

Ed Quark’s first solo release on Ranking Records is long awaited, firstly because of his involvement in the first few killer collaborative releases on the label, and also due to a few breathtaking tunes played out on dub, including the much-requested collab with Ruckspin â€" “Sunshineâ€. Point of Seeing demonstrates Quark’s ability to fuse melancholy harmonies and smart drum patterns with a sensitive approach to space and bass. The glitchy, rolling beat creates a sense of urgency, whilst an awe-inspiring Martin Luther King speech talks of “a day when justice, brotherhood, peace...dwell throughout society.†Back of the neck business. Patagonia compliments the a-side perfectly: the same sparseness of rhythm that underpins Point of Seeing is taken even further, leaving room for eerie orchestral samples and a mighty low end. A refreshing and innovative 12†that will have both the dubstep and the electronica heads turning their systems up.
