Lewis James

Rua Sound

Expected: 2nd March 2018 | 4 track jungle/drum 'n' bass ep

Rua Sound welcomes Lewis James to its roster with the release of his Featherstone EP. The London based Irish producer shows off the diversity of his sonic abilities with the E.P juxtaposing high energy club tracks and hip hop weight with sensual depth.

Recently labelled 'One to Watch in 2018' by DJ Mag, Featherstone is the first release of the year by a producer in the ascendancy following his superb release for Fracture's Astrophonica imprint late last year.

With a background in sound design, James' productions are always of the highest calibre, and his versatility means EPs often offer jungle, half-time and more without any drop in quality.

DJ Mag:

His 'Featherstone' EP for Rua Sound is again a diverse effort, ranging from growling tech-y juke to half-time hip-hop with rapper 18andCounting, and a sublime melodic number featuring singer, Alison White.

Our premiere today, however, is a big, brash stomper built on monstrous roaring synths and punchy drums — guaranteed to do serious damage on the dancefloor.

Nutso Is a mechanised tech noir future hip-hop cut, with the odd drum & bass roll to keep you on your toes. The tension levels rise with a shape-shifting metallic dub dread synthline and glassy smithereen effects. It feels like a future soundtrack to the game WipeOut, with skyscraper-sized robots racing instead of the zippy anti-gravity pod ship.
