Citlalmina

A 4 track nu-disco ep (25m 11s) — released April 20th 2018 on Soul Clap Records

Detroit's 'Disco au Courant' Pontchartrain brings his kind of Funk and Nu Disco to Soul Clap Records with The Citalmina EP. "Citalmina", a name of Aztec origin that means 'Shooting Star', perfectly describes Pontchartrain's title track which rolls along propelling the dance floor to a place of magic and mystery. DJ's are gonna love this one. Then things slow right down on "Where Do We Go Now", a balearic cut complete with moving synth arpeggiation, smooth pads and plenty of percussion. "Rio Magdalena" rounds out the body of music taking us into a totally different deep dance direction that feels both inspired by the past yet entirely futuristic. And as if the mark hadn't already been hit we're very proud to enlist the remix duties of Detroit keyboard/talkbox heavyweight Hazmat to give this track about the funkiest facelift we could have imagined; awash with synths, sound effects and a killer guitar solo at the end that will leave minds blown!

Here's some more from Pontchartrain in his words:

"(The story behind this record) involves a lot of travel to remote locations, heartbreak, inspiring musicians and artists, and a lot of work. But what you really need to know is that it is an audible representation of a very special gathering in a very special place in Mexico, near the border of Belize… Citlalmina is an ancient Mayan word for "comet". The song itself was written for, and debuted under the Yucatan milky way one night in February 2017 and became the premise for this debut on Soul Clap Records"
