One of the most striking singles we've heard to date on the always-great Soul Fire label -- a funky gem with a really trippy edge! 'Watou' has this great skittish beat -- drums that snap hard, then stop a bit, then go -- while organ bubbles with kind of a spooky outerspace feel, and bass dips around the whole thing, like a dog sniffing around the bottom of a tree! 'Broken Ribs' starts with a bit of 'out there' jazz -- then rolls into a stepping little groove that's some where in the territory of Booker T's 'Melting Pot', but done by Sun Ra!
