Gravity Remixes EP

A 6 track leftfield/idm ep (27m 20s) — released June 18th 2012 on Slowfoot Records

Crewdson is Hugh Jones, a musician and producer who, following his first two releases last year, has been hailed as one to watch amongst his 'post-dubstep' peers, "...;blowing Jazz and glitch into the vessels sails". 'Dust EP' and the full length 'Gravity' drew huge acclaim from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Clash, XLR8R, Time-Out, BBC, Future Sequnce, Electronic Beats, Fader...;...;.[see below]

He has recently remixed for Deco Child [Ninja], Finn Peters, Bambooman and Snorkel. Aside from his solo work he is also a current member of Mathew Herbert's 'One Pig' band, drummer Tom Skinner's hotly tipped project Hello Skinny and electronic jazz outfit Saltwater Samurai.

Gravity Remixes EP is a collection of remixes of material from the album. To start proceedings Crewdson has casually pulled a brand new, punchy, vocal led tune entitled 'Bent Measure' out of his back pocket. Follow that, producers...;

And so on remixing duty we have...;..

London's very own afro-kraut experimentation unit Snorkel take on the beatific minimalism of 'Cascade' and turn it into a Battles-like stomper, complete with bonus trombones. Rising star Alphabets Heaven tackles the wonderfully skittish 'Dust Crawlers', turning it into a soulful post-hip-hop number. Tom Skinner, aka Hello Skinny, now of the Slowfoot parish, deconstructs 'Electric Wing' - previously a big-beat-meets-sax-solo monster - into the intro theme for an Amiga game that never was. Bambooman brings a bit of his trademark late night dust and intimate chill to an appreciated party - 'Trapdoor'. Meanwhile Chester's Real brings his punchy, soulful take on UK garage to Crewdson's own punchy, soulful take on UK garage.

PRESS

"Yeah, that's nicely different from Crewdson, 'Electric Wing' on an album to watch out for called 'Gravity'." [Gilles Peterson, Radio 1]

"Eleven fantastic post-dubstep/micro-house tracks from Matthew Herbert's tech assistant and fine south-east London producer Crewdson" [Time Out]

"...; a wonderful achievement. A sensual marriage of skippy 2-step rhythms, throbbing bass and delicate arrangements. Crewdson is moving bass music beyond its post-dubstep moniker." [Clash]

"Crewdson is a fresh UK producer soon to be inducted into the Hall of Precious Electronic Sounds, particularly following the release of his debut LP, Gravity." [XLR8R]

"The album is great hodgepodge of crafted songs by Crewdson that only solidifies his stand-out talent amongst his peers." [Planet Notion]

"a fantastic debut album... ... I implore you to check this guy out." [Igloo]

"Gravity establishes Hugh Jones as a beatsmith on par with any of his contemporaries mining the fertile soil around the edges of modern soul, dubstep and esoteric electronica." [Cyclic Defrost]

"Simply put, this is brilliant and highly recommended" [Future Sequence]

...some impressively experimental production at work here. - Shout 4 Music

If you're in anyway inclined to smartly crafted, delicately honed leftfield electronica with a pop-base, you cannot get much better than this; and if not, this is the place to be introduced. - The 405

...there are rhythms here made out of water-plops, sax samples that bubble through glitches, an incredibly crisp and airy approach to production - as in, even the chiptune wibbles sound fresh. Genuinely interesting. - Drowned In Sound

...curious listeners will find music of great quality, including the excellent ‘Cascade’, re-mixed coincidentally by Snorkel. - Terrascope
