Junk Soul EP

Sing Sing

Released: 17th March 2008 | 3 track underground rap/hip-hop single
First Sequel - This newly formed band features DJ, beat boxer, drummer, singer and all round top geezer, Jason Singh (Jason has previously worked with Mercury Prize winner Nitin Sawhney and features on his 2005 album, Philtre) and a reclusive Mancunian producer who wishes to remain anonymous for legal reasons. First up is 'Junk Soul', three minutes and twenty four seconds of beatbox, vocal scratches and the ultimate bass machine – the Roland TR808. Wanna get this party started? Spin this and watch those bass bins dance. Moving on to 'Movin' On'. A dark, dark groove with wonky basslines and conscious vocals finds First Sequel dancing to their own beat… I know its tough but you got to keep movin on… 'Stroppy Chop's features a disjointed groove and melodies that wouldn't be out of place in an Alfred Hitchock film. Imagine Sakamoto with an SP1200, a Theremin, Dilla and the score to The Birds and you'll get the picture nice nice nice funky tunes will play on the radio of course lovelyyy Laurent Garnier ...this is really a dope release...moving on is one of my favourites. like this dry complicated beats - very deep tune!
