The War Bonnet EP

A 4 track deep house ep (28m 11s) — released July 30th 2012 on STEEL TIGER RECORDS

Chieftain are a deep house duo with Balearic elements comprising of Adam Regan and Steve Cobby. The War Bonnet EP is the first release by the Chieftain duo and has already picked up a big response from UK, European and Australian DJs.

DJ Adam Regan has played all over the world with the Different Drummer Soundsystem. Leftfoot, his Birmingham clubnight with Richard Whittingham, often described as a haven for fans of leftfield, soulful music, has hosted guests inc. Keb Darge, Jazzanova, Fabio and Carl Craig and was previously voted 'Best Clubnight' on Gilles Peterson's BBC Worldwide Radio Show.

Steve Cobby is a musician, composer, producer, and occasional DJ - also fifty percent of Fila Brazillia (with David McSherry), fifty percent of Hey, Rube! (with Stephen Mallinder of Cabaret Voltaire), fifty percent of J*S*T*A*R*S (with Sim Lister), one third of Heights of Abraham (with Sim Lister & Jake Harries), and all of The Solid Doctor.

The EP contains four solid electronic tracks. Ramp has a zombie disco/Hannulelauri type vibe with a soft brummy underbelly, Decimated Coconut sounds like it could be from circa 1995 Italian label Heartbeat. Kriegspiel is a heads down plodder with a lovely body and great build, and Scald The Fly is deep, loopy, emotional, and a bit trippy.

It's a testament to how good each track is as from what I have read people are differing on the standout tracks. For me it's a close call between Decimated Coconut and Kriegspiel. Taking nothing away from Ramp, and Scald. It's a cracking EP. - Steve Bignell

I like the whole EP, I shall play loud and often, on repeat. - Andy Roberts

Well, there are Mermaids and Jesus's light a few generations back in these new babies' ancestry so it makes sense to me. Very nice Steve! - Alex 'Ollo' Crowfoot
