Sunshine Buddy

A 2 track indie pop single (9m 39s) — released April 11th 2011 on Tape Club Records

“The key to change… is to let go of fear†Rosanna Cash -- “With experimental patterns being shredded through big hearts, you can't go far wrong...†Artrocker “It's the kind of rock 'n roll that makes you sweat, swing your hips and go reasonably crazy†Fake DIY “In their possession lies something quite exciting†Click Music “Inspired weirdness†BBC -- As London’s sonically untamable ensemble Laurel Collective gear up for the release of their debut full-length LP, they announce their new single ‘Sunshine Buddy’ released on April 11th via Tape Club Records. A video for the track will be unveiled in March. 2010 was a relatively calm year for the Laurel Collective, even with the band claiming the Red Stripe Music Award and appearing at numerous festivals. For the most part, it was spent plotting their leap from quirky outsiders to alternative pop frontrunners. The result was a collection of challenging new songs. Though it’s instantly recognisable as pop music, it’s deliberately so far removed from the 2011 idea of pop that the reference points blur aimlessly into the monster that it is. The band retain their trashy Dexy’s sound with ‘Sunshine Buddy’; the uplifting, high-voltage assault of melodies and clashing vocals that whirl and collapse. It’s the sound of London’s most heroic alternative band colliding their psychedelic, charming folk sensibilities with rhythmical angularity. A remix courtesy of Raisa Khan is available now as a free download from: LINK, with the single itself landing on April 11th. The remix also marks the beginning of Khan’s solo outings as a producer.
